It is indeed a ww1 memorial, but it is not raised for AH soldiers.

It was raised for the romanian soldiers who died
liberating Transylvania, and especially that particular area.

Actually, the first ww1 memorial for romanian soldiers was raised in Halmagiu by my familly, from our own money.
The ww1 memorial from the photo's above is actually the second one raised in the memory of ww1 fallen romanian soldiers.

On the following post, I'll put the history of the monument raised for the memory of WW1 romanian soldiers who died for the country.

The first ww1 memorial for romanian soldiers was raised by familly Hantiu,
my grand-grandfathers.
The monument it's about 3,5 meters high, at this high is to add suplemetary a 50 cm cross in the top (photo bellow).



On the memorial it is written:
- on the south part (photo bellow) :
"Cu sfinti odihneste Doamne pe raposati robii tai pe eroii cazuti in lupte pentru intregirea neamului. Pe Parintii nostri unde nu este durere nici suparare ci viata fara sfarsit. Amin"
"With the saints give rest, Lord, to the fallen heroes who died for the unification of the nation. Rest our Fathers where it is no pain, nor sorrow, but endless life. Amen"



- on the north part (photo bellow):
"Mantueste Doamne poporul tau si bine o cuvanteaza mostenirea ta"
"Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance".

- on the eastern side (photo bellow):
"Crucii Tale ne inchinam stapane si toata invierea Ta o laudam si marim".
"We bow to your cross Master and we cherish your Resurection".



- on the western side:
"Aceasta sfanta cruce sa [sic - nota autorului] ridicat pe spesele lui Gheorghe Hantiu maestru tabacar si Sotia nascuta Parascheva Halga. Halmagiu la 24 Mai 1928"
"This saint cross was raised by the money of tanner master Gheorghe Hantiu and his wife, borned Parascheva Halga. Halmagiu at 24th of May 1928".

On the side of the memorial are burried my ancestors who raised thiis monument, Gheorghe Hantiu and his wife Paraschiva Hantiu (borned Halga).

Untill 1933 when the monument from the center was raised, the remembrance of the romanian heroes was held at this monument, raised by my familly.

This is the second monument for romanian ww1 heroes, inaugurated at 10th of September 1933.

In the back of the officer from photo above it is the eastern side of the memorial, on wich it is written:
"1916 Au luptat si au murit pentru mosie si domn 1918"
"1916 They fought and died for land and for king 1918"

On the western side it is written:
"Spre mãrirea lui Dumnezeu si pomenire Martirilor luptei de dezrobire dusa de Horia, Closca si Crisan la 1784 si de cãtre Avram Iancu la 1848”
"In amintirea gardistilor morti pentru apararea acestui tinut in zilele de 14-16 februarie 1919 si pentru vesnica pomenire a eroilor cãzuti în marea ofensivã pornitã din Hãlmagiu la 16 aprilie 1919, când divizia 2 Vânãtori a glorioasei armate Române si regimentul de voluntari "Horia" au luptat vitejeste pentru înfãptuirea României Mari."

Translation:
"For the praise of the Lord and for remembering the martyrs of freedom fight led by Horea, Closca and Crisan at 1784 and by Avram Iancu at 1848".
"For the remembrance of guard members who died defending this county on the days of 14-16th of february 1919 and for eternal remembrance of the heroes fallen in the great offensive started from Halmagiu at 16th of april 1919, when 2nd Vanatori division of glorious Romanian army and volunteers regiment "Horia" fought bravely for the creation of Great Romania".

Quite impressive pictures. Congratulations. My grandfather was the military chaplain attached to the 9th hunters regiment (2nd hunters division) and col. Rasoviceanu, its commander, is the one who "baptised" Horia regiment at Tebea (famous place for Avram Iancu in Romania's history). Because you have relatives in the area, do you think there are official documents and other pictures from those days at the townhall or at some natives ? THANK YOU.

Please be more specific before proceeding further with PM (are you in possesion of actual pictures, memoirs, newspapers articles, etc. of those days - APRIL 1919? their sources are local authorities, PRIESTS, witnesses, newspapers ?). Thank you.
