Currently made reproduction for collectors and reinactors.

Good, now where can you find Romanian reproduction items for sale? Vertually impossible to find in the US.

A fantasy attempt of making up a complete uniform.
All pieces appear original. However, none of the pieces match.

Kepi - Captain Medical doctor. 3 stripes, black band.
Kepi feather plume. Red and green for Medical Vetinary. Mismatched to hat.
Uniform - Lieutenant Military Gendarne. Buttons mismatched. Some of the buttons
are proper "LEX" buttons mixed with "FRN" buttons.
Guard Officers Aguilette.
Agulette should be white for uniform.
Guard Officers Belt Buckle.
Infantry Officers Ludanka.
Dagger, Standard Army black handle with gold cypher issue. Worn on leather
belt / khaki uniform. Would not have been suspended on a dress belt.
Gendarne dagger would have a white handle with cipher.
Sword, generic issue. Could have been worn by Gendarne or any other line
regiment.
2nd Class neck badge, Order of the Crown, highly unlikely that it was awarded to a Lieutenant.

Hi RUC,

Interesting uniforms.

I note that they are all jackets. I was told by a collector in the UK that after the war people tended to use ex-military boots, socks, trousers and shirts when doing manual labour like gardening and decorating and that therefore few of these survived to become collectors items. By contrast, jackets and headgear, which carried badges and medal ribbons, tended to be kept in larger numbers for sentimental reasons.

Is it the same in Romania? Have you found more difficulty in collecting the more mundane pieces of uniform such as trousers, puttees, boots, etc.?

Cheers,

Sid.

Hello Sid,
That is correct. Few pieces survived after the war. Shirts, socks, pants, shorts were worn after the war and seldom found. Most uniform items were actually destroyed as control of the country was taken over by Russia due to the fact that a person would be displaying Royal sympathies by continued wear or posession of such items and would have suffered negative consequences by the Communist government. Individuals sympathetic to old Romania hid items in their houses. Only in the past 10 years have bits and pieces start appearing for sale.
