Cavalry jettons from WW1-1920's were privately made usually for prizes given for specific events of horsemanship. Most were distinguished by suspension of a black ribbon and key fob like chain that was affixed to the uniform pocket button. These two jettons with the black ribbons are typical of ones worn by the military during this period. However, there is no documentation for these awards. Only by study of original photographs can one determine if the military wore these awards. What makes these two very difficult is that there are no markings or provinonce to prove that these were military at all. They could also have been civillian prizes for horsemanship and they could also be non horse related. More research is needed here. |

The "ST. GEORG" inscription on the badge at left suggests that it is not Romanian, as the local equivalent is "SF. GHEORGHE". |
