It seems the photo was made before the victory parade of 8th November 1941 on Kisseleff Boulv. The car is the King's one as it has the royal standard on the left side and the crown painted on the registered plate. In the second car it seems to be Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel, as a special guest at this event, and the prime minister Mihai (Ica) Antonescu. |

Thank you for the additional information. When sold they were just identified as Romanian parade vehicles. The car behind the Packard is a 1936 Cadillac, possibly the same one in my first photo. Bill |

I found an old copy of Wheels & Tracks which had an excellent article on Romanian vehicles.
According to the article, at least the following manufacturers supplied truck type vehicles in the late 1930s and the war years. Ford US, 4X2 models 1938/39 of which many were converted to Marmon Herrington 4X4. Ford US models imported from Ford Dagenham (UK) Steyr vehicles from Austria Praga, Skoda and Tatra vehicles from Czechoslovakia. DKW motorcycles and Ford trucks from Germany. After the war began, a wide variety of current German vehicles found their way into the Romanian military stocks. The article also stated that the private stock of vehicles existing when the war began were requisitioned to almost 100% which would mean a very wide variety of American and German civilian vehicles could probably have been seen in military "dress". If no one has done so on another part of this forum, I can scan and post some example photos from this article. I also hope others may have photos of these regular military issue vehicles as well as the requisitioned ones that they may share with us. Cheers Bill |

Maybe he meant Merenti who is a fairly big volume seller on ebay.de, same fellow that had the Packard and Cadillac photos for sale some time ago.
