Well I'm impressed, Dragos. I take it that you have no social life or family.


If you can get them in Romania, there are two series of books - Conway's and Jane's (Conway's is, I think, printed in the U.S.A., while Jane's is printed in Great Britain), which list all of the naval ships of the world for a given period. Right now, both Conway's and Jane's publish their lists annualy (they are quite expensive), but I know that Conway's has a volume entitled "All the World's Navies 1922 - 1945. (There is also a volume 1905 - 1922). If you are interested in naval matters, I strongly recommend them as they give all of the technical details (amount of armor, guns, engine, crew size, etc) for naval ships of the period covered by the book. The 1922 - 1945 Conways does include a chapter on the Romanian navy

More than that, in the autumn of '41, when the Nikolaev shipyard was conquered by the axis forces, here more war ships were under construction:

1 battleship,

3 heavy cruisers,

4 flagships,

5 destroyers,

8 submarines,

2 gunboats,

1 icebreaker.

Only 2 heavy cruisers, 2 flagships, 3 destroyers, 5 submarines and 1 icebreaker have been evacuated to other ports, the rest were destroyed by the Russians.
