In 1944 USAAF bombed for the first time Romania on 3rd april !
Two days ago I found few documents in military archives of Pitesti ( a telegram , a report and a map ) dated 3rd april 1944 who informed Statul Major Aerian that about 40 americans bombers bombed Arad (then a part of Hungary) and 1 or 2 of them lanced their bombs near Timisoara , probably from technical reasons. |

Arad stayed within Rumania following the Vienna Award. It was only briefly taken by the Hungarian Army in Sept. 1944. Col. Dénes |

On 3 April 1944, B-17 and B-24 of the USAAF 15th AF bomb targets in Yugoslavia (Brod) and Hungary (Budapest). It is possible that some aircrafts, from different causes, needed to drop their bombs before/after target. So it explains the bombs fell in Arad and Timisoara
