It seems to be a dogtag of a soldier from the 6th Rosiori Regiment, which was part of the 5th Cavalry Division. It served in the sector of the 4th Romanian Army, south of Stalingrad.

A last wish maybe? Who knows. What would you write if you were a soldier sitting in a trench after an enemy atack that whipped some of your comrades in arms?

If I was a soldier in a trench after an attack ..
I would prob thank god I was still alive and I would wish to go home or just run away from it all and never turn back because all I want is to survive. Dragos ![]() |

Because unlike in the more advanced United States or Germany, the dog tags for the Romanian soldiers did not arrive from the factory with the unique I.D. pre-printed by an industrial press. Marking the unique I.D. (name... whatever) was the owner's responsibility. |

So the Romanian soldiers recive only a piece of metal with "Romania" pre-printed on it?

Take a look on this thread for the various shapes of the dog-tags in the Romanian Army during WWII: Rumanian Army Dog-Tag. |
