Hi Imperialist,
You are not posting "some pictures from Iraq". You are posting only photos that show damage to coaltion forces. In view of the fact that the vast majority of fatalities inflicted by Iraqi insurgents is on Iraqi civilians, I think it important to point out that the pictures you have posted are not typical of wider events. Furthermore, contrary to your claims, these and many many more such images have been shown on British TV channels, at least, and some of what you posted very definitely is propaganda material filmed for that very purpose by the insurgents. I have no objection to any of these images being posted, but I would not like the real wider picture to be forgotten - the great majority of insurgent-inflicted fatalities are Iraqi civilians. Will you be showing any of these? Cheers, Sid. |

We live in a capitalist world, if you want something done differently dont go about telling others to do it, just do it. I'd have no objection to any of the images you'd post be they pictures of US soldiers giving out candy, pictures of soldiers helping people, whatever. Please contribute. -------------------- I

Sadr's Army stirrs
Iraqi Shi'ites attend Friday prayers at the Khadamiya shrine in Baghdad August 26, 2005. A hundred thousand Iraqis across the country marched on Friday in support of a maverick Shi'ite cleric opposed to a draft constitution that U.S.-backed government leaders say will deliver a brighter future. (Ceerwan Aziz/Reuters) Supporters of Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr guard his office in Diwaniyah 180 kilometers (112 miles) south of Baghdad August 25, 2005. Supporters of al-Sadr opposed to a new, U.S.-backed constitution clashed with police and rival militias in Baghdad and other cities overnight. But on top of a bloody show of force by Sunni insurgents on Baghdad's streets on Wednesday, the violence involving al-Sadr's Mehdi Army and rival Shi'ite groups may dent its hopes of a smooth passage for the charter in an October referendum. One of the bodyguards for the top Sunni imam in Iraq walks between the coffins of baghdad residents killed last week, during the funeral ceremony in Baghdad, Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. A leader of Iraq's largest Sunni political group accused the Shiite-led security forces Monday of being behind the recent killing of 36 Sunnis and warned that such acts could have unforeseeable consequences. Tarek al-Hashimi, secretary-general of the Iraqi Islamic Party, said squads in police uniforms kidnaped the 36 Sunnis from Baghdad's northern neighborhood of Hurriyah. They were then executed and their bodies dumped in a dry riverbed south of the capital.(AP Photo/Hadi Mizban) The car of Reuters soundman Waleed Khaled is seen after he was shot dead in Baghdad's Al Ghazalea district August 28, 2005. Khaleed, a Reuters Television soundman, was shot dead in Baghdad on Sunday and a cameraman with him was wounded and then detained by U.S. soldiers. Iraqi police said they had been shot by U.S. forces. A U.S. military spokesman said the incident was being investigated. (Mohammad Ameen/Reuters) US soldiers fix the track of a M1 Abrams tank at Camp Prosperity in the fortified 'Green Zone' in Baghdad. President Jalal Talabani said Iraq's draft constitution is ready to be put to an October 15 referendum despite the objections of Sunni Arabs which were downplayed by US President George W. Bush.(AFP/Liu Jin) -------------------- I

Hi Imperialist,
Sadly, in this capitalist world, we are not all in a position to contribute photos. Were I able to do so I would. We all must work with the tools we have available. Mine are words. I am glad you are paying close attention to Sadr's militia. It is probably upon their actions that depends whether the current sectarian Sunni insurgency becomes a truly Iraqi insurgency. Cheers, Sid. |

You know very well my opinion about the "sectarian" view of an insurgency, so I dont see why you want the subject reopened here. "Guerilla Actions" thread is still open for that debate. take care -------------------- I

Hi Imperialist,
I am sorry. I didn't know it was not only forbidden to disagree with subjects you raise, but also to express approval. If you don't want comment and debate, don't post on a public forum. Cheers, Sid. |

Hi Imperialist,
Don't be sorry. I am not upset. My only interest is to add a little corrective ballance to some of your more wayward contributions. For example, if you choose to show stills from an insurgent propaganda video and then post "Its not propaganda" you must expect to be contradicted. You are free to post photos and I am free to make the occasional corrective textual contribution. Cheers, Sid. |
