Rosiori Lance Pennant Colors and Designs

Does anybody know what colors and designs the Rosiori used on their Lance pennants? I would imagine it varied from unit to unit but I would like an idea of the more common designs and color schemes.

If you refer to the cavalry standards, they were identical with the infantry ones, except they were smaller in size and they have a slight different lance and handle for ease of holding while mounted.

The Rosiori (Regular Cavalry) regiments had different distinctive colours that decorated the busby (woolen hat) pouches, great coat pipings and upper part of the pennons attached to their lances. From 1872, every Rosiori regiment had a different distinctive colour (anything but red that was the traditional distinctive colour of Calarasi –territorial cavalry –units). The first two Rosiori regiments, set up in 1872, had: yellow – 1st Regiment, white – 2nd Regiment. Then, as other rosiori regiments were set up, they received new colours:
- 3rd Rosiori (1880) : Green;
- 4th Rosiori (1893) : Light Blue;
- 5th Rosiori (1895): Light Green;
- 6th Rosiori (1895): Blue;
- 7th Rosiori (1908): Indian Red (Light Brown) ;
- 8th Rosiori (1908): Mauve;
- 9th Rosiori (1908): Rose;
- 10th Rosiori (1908): Gray;
- 11th Rosiori (1912): Dark Red (Bordeaux Red);
- 12th Rosiori (1920’s): Violet.
The lance pennons were swallow tailed rectangular piece of cloth (46 x 64 cm), with two horizontal bands: the upper in the distinctive colour, the lower, red. It was fastened on the lance by a 50 cm thin leather lace. The pennons were carried, on parade, from 1875, when the first line of Rosiori was equipped with lances until the eve of WW2.
