Why didn't IAR attempt to produce a similar plane or copy it? Did they not have the capabilites?

At that time IAR factories produced under licence the bomber Savoia Marchetti JRS 79.

The I.A.R. 80 appears to have the 1/2 scale wings of the Savoia S.79B bomber. Col. Dénes |

Reduced at optimum scale. Its enyone good enough at drawings, to try an 80 with LOS wings? I know, PZL was not produced in Romania, etc... Iama |

The first installment of my three-part series of articles on the PZL P.37 'Los' in Rumanian service has been published in the current issue of Skrzydlata Polska (Poland), under the title, 'The Unloved Elk' (or similar):
http://www.altair.com.pl/sp_arch/sp_index.htm Gen. Dénes P.S. The Imageshack 'Upload' button has disappeared, so momentarily I cannot upload the scan of the article's first page... P.P.S. A found a way around this problem, by going directly to the main page. So here it is: This post has been edited by Dénes on February 27, 2006 07:56 pm |

Congrat, Denes. I read the first page and only one mistake found (ARR instead AR) |

Thanks, C-no. I hope you indeed meant the ARR/AR issue as a joke... Gen. Dénes |

There are only two such photos known. One is basically a shadow, as the 'los A' was photographed in wintertime. However, the other one is a fairly good - albeit distant - shot. It was published in the monstre monography on this bomber type I co-authored, issued by AJ-Press in December last year.
