Major Doering's assasinate in 19'th Jan. 1941 in Bucharest served as lait motive for the start of anti-semite pogrom. Do you have any details about this Major Doering? Did he have a first name? What was the unit he served in?
The murderer was aledgedly Turkish or Greek and the Germans said at the time that he was a British/American agent. Was he executed? |

Major Doering was AFAIK a "Stabsmajor", being in charge of some negotiations regarding the German Military Mission in Romania. IMO, he got shot by mistake, not purposefully because he was Doering. The target was the commander of the Military Mission...
