TACAM-60 equipped 2 new formations, the 61st and 62nd TACAM Companies, with 16 and 18 vehicles respectively, attached to the 1st Armoured Division and later the 8th Cavalry Division, which was in the process of converting into a new, i.e. 2nd Armoured Division, although in the event the formation was never fully organised. Both TACAM companies saw considerable fighting against Soviet forces in the summer of 1944, suffering notable losses which were further compounded by those lost during fighting against German forces following the 23rd August 1944 Armistice. Due to their Soviet origin, all surviving TACAM T-60s were confiscated by the Soviet Army sometime after October 1944. Hope that it will help you. |

There are two scans that ebay listed(ended itesm) This scan is very interested foto,There are rare snapshots in battle field. | Hi Me, The Romanians received some German helmets in 1944 and also apparently some German leather yolks and magazine pouches appropraiate to the German small arms delivered. However, these were only used by a very small minority of Romanian troops. Overwhelmingly Romanian troops wore Romanian uniforms and equipment. Cheers, Sid. |

It's mixed forces: romanian TACAM T-60 with hungarian troops on the board, also on the photo you can see Turan with hungarian troops on the board. |

Very nice photo. However, why do you think the troops riding on the rear tank are Hungarian? The helmets are German, not Hungarian. Most probably, they are Rumanian soldiers. As for the first tank, I cannot say anything, except the flag looks like a Rumanian one (definitely not Hungarian). Do you have a date and/or location where the photo was taken? Can you read some of the text on the wall? By the way, what is the photo's source? Gen. Dénes |

| Perhaps they were identified as Hungarians because of the putties in combination with the helmets? Did the Romanians make use of German helmets? I hadn't heard of that before.... |

| German helmets were used on the western front and there are many photos at the military museum and in the book Armata Romana 1941-1945. http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=4734&hl=german+helmets Also the Hungarian army never used VZ-24 rifles and the soldiers in that photo don't have Hungarian 35M or 43M or Mannlicher 95 rifles. Also in my opinion the Turan is a captured tank and opportunistically reused until it run out of ammo or it broke down. |

| the other thing the turan is in bad condition just look the mud-guard, and it only have one exhaust(it should be very noisy). the Hungarians should repair that before using it again. i agree with mihnea, it should be a captured tank, and maybe this is why they not repaired it. |

| i only can show this about captured turan, i pasted this quote to the other topic about a captured Zrínyi tank: http://www.ordersofbattle.darkscape.net/site/sturmvogel/romafv.html#Heading78 "TURAN TANK weight 18.2 tons ; crew 5 ; armour 14-50mm ; speed 47 km/hr ; armament one 4cm or one 7.5cm cannon and two 8mm machineguns. In the course of fighting in northern Transylvania during the fall of 1944, the Romanian Army captured, or more likely recovered from abandoned battlefields, a few of these Hungarian tanks -- whether earlier, 4cm - armed models or examples of the later version with its 7.5cm cannon is not clear, although the former is more likely -- and while their derelict condition suggests any subsequent Romanian service to have been fleeting if at all, by this stage of the war the Romanian Army was so hard-pressed for armour of any sort (even resorting to using thirty year-old Renault FT's) that even remotely operable Turan's were probably impressed into service. If any survived to the end of the war, they were no doubt confiscated with all other Axis equipment by Romania's Soviet allies-cum-masters. " |

| HI guys, interesting forum I must say. Anyway Ill bet my money on a light Hungarian Toldi tank and not a T60 but I have to cross check it first with my sources.  The engine deck does not immediatly correspont to either the T60 or the Toldi. But if a T60 where is the exhaust pipe and (sound) muffler?Edit:  I just realized that I dont know what Im talking about. It's from Maxim Kolomiets archive. This example of TACAM t-60 based on the T-60 factory 37 or factory 38. They use cast roadwheels for tanks. |
