In the family album I found this photo. Please help for the pilot identification. Is made in 1935 or 1934. Maybe will help the name on the plane, PZL 11, I think the first letter is "J", "Jaina", or "I". I suppose is not a romanian pilot.
Many thanks,
AC

It is a Rumanian pilot. But without even knowing his rank, it would be very hard to ID him.

Reply for Gen. Dénes: I hope will be identified! Thank you.
and
Thank you Radu for details and message.
I would like to correct: is correct, the accident was on 11 Oct 1936 but Lt. N. Ticulescu died on 1 Nov 1936. Lt. Gh. Pienescu, from the other plane, died in the same day 11 Oct.
Best regards to all,
Alexandru

All I can say: in the middle is the prince Nicolae, I presume on his right, the first in suit, is Radu Irimescu minister of air. The pilot behind him is Lt. Nicolae Ticulescu.
Many thanks

In the two pics above is somehow Constantin Abeles? Some of them seem to be instructors.

I have a letter, received by my grandfather in 1934, from another pilot. Is signed only "Aristide". Do you think we can identify him? He was in "Grupul 1 Vanatoare", Pipera fighting flotilla.
Many thanks,
Alexandru

Another photo made in 1935 (or maybe in 1936). I know it is hard to identify the pilot.

Interesting at this PZL, I suppose is a camera, or photo machine gun on the left wing mulliou (montant), please confirm. Under the right wing the mark is like a cross, why?

Very nice photo, thanks for posting. The plane is an PZL-11b-K.
Yes, on that wing strut is a gun-camera.
Under the right wing is the letter "E" from the plane markings "E3" painted with white, is no cross in there.

Thanks for reply. Now I see too that is "E".

Can you tell me if Dumitru "Pufi" Popescu is among these aviators.
Thanks,
Alexandru

If you have a better scan maybe we can find some other well known pilots!

Posted by: Alexandru C. June 25, 2013 09:59 am
I’ll try a better photo.
Until then, I can say the first on the left, on the upper step, is Adj. Stanescu. The fourth, from right to left, is Lt. Nicolae Ticulescu (with a colleague's arm on his left shoulder) and the next to the left, with the face slightly covered, is Lt. Dimitriu. They were part of the Fighting Squadron 2, Pipera Flotilla.

Could someone please help me identify some of the ranks and/or names of the officers in the picture? Thanks in advance.

I don't believe anyone can identify the ranks, or even the faces, form a photo measuring 640px × 452px, its just too little, no details can bee seen. I believe you must post a 600 dpi or 1200 dpi scan, I posted below an 1200 dpi scan, measuring 4.418px × 6.774px, just as an example. Regards!

Thanks for your advice, but I am a little cautious about posting high-resolution photos from my family album since I have seen many images belonging to other users appear on various facebook pages and web sites, with their watermarks cropped off.

Best regards. See larger (500kb) image below, and thanks to everyone for their help. If you save to your desktop and zoom in, faces and ranks are clearly visible.

Yes, I understand that, but if you put a solid watermark in the middle (like you did), the photo can't be cropped any more, optionally you can use three lines of watermark: top, middle, bottom.

Photo is taken after 1934 because their caps are M1934, I believe first form left wears an M1939 cap (bigger calotte and smaller band), judging by the cap visor, they are all with the rank of ”Maior” to ”Colonel” for infantry or ”Locotenent-comandor” to ”Comandor” for air-force. Form left: no. 1, 3 and 5 has an infantry cap emblem, from left no. 2, 4 and 6 has an air-force cap emblem. That's about it! smile.gif

Cainele-Franctiror, IonIonescu: thank you both for your input. When/if I find out any names or additional info, I'll post it.

What type are the airplanes?

Posted by: ionionescu July 13, 2013 12:51 pm
@Agarici: I believe the aircraft its a Potez 25, if I'm not mistaking it was also built under license by IAR Brașov.

Unfortunately, the picture has small format 8/6 cm.
