Because it is in a fresh-water lake, this will be worth recovering. Chances are that the metal parts are not as corroded as if they were in saltwater.
I doubt that it is only 90% damaged. That is very repairable. If it was worth salvaging, they would have pulled it out during the war and at least use it for spares if it could not be repaired.
There are also some He114 there.

Taking into consideration the absimal amount of preserved ww2 aircraft parts in Romania anything would be more than valuable i'd say. Maybe we can dream of a "full" wreck to pop up either from one of the lakes or maybe the Black Sea.

Sea water is really bad news for aluminium. I had the chance to see planes pulled out of the sea and they cannot be restored. There is a wing of a Bf.109G2 pulled out of the sea in the Aviation Museum. It is like Swiss cheese.

But this Savoia is in fresh water and that is good news.

Good point. cool.gif

The pieces found in the lake are all made of metal not wood.
Anyone could identify the plane from the picture below link ?
Cant Z 501 was also from wood.

Indeed, amazing find !

And what's more amazing is that the only other surviving Bv138 is the one that you posted in the pictures which is at the Danish Technical Museum

Am cautat partial in documentele mele si am identificat:

"25.05.1944 - La ora 20 un BV-138 german decolat de pe lacul Mamaia pentru proba aparaturii de bord pentru zborul noapte s-a prabusit la amerizare, pilot + mecanic morti inecati."

Posibil sa nu fie acesta, mai am documente inca neexplorate.

------------------------------------------------

"25.05.1944 - At 20 hours a German BV-138 that took off from Mamaia lake for testing night flight instruments crashed during landing, the pilot and the technician drawning"

Possibly not this one, there are documents still to be studied.

Many thanks mr. Antoniu for sharing, indeed it seems by the damage that the hydroplane "capsized", the entire upper part of the fusselage seems broken.

Posted by: Antoniu October 30, 2012 09:48 am
Nu stiu in ce pozitie a fost gasit, este posibil ca aripile sa fi fost taiate pentru a degaja zona, fuzelajul ramas si rasturnat pe o parte nu mai deranja activitatea pe lac.

----------------------------------------------

It is possible the wings were cut off to clear the area, and the fuselage turned over on side to clear the bottom of the lake.

Blohm & Voss BV 138 Seedrache (Sea Dragon, but nicknamed Der Fliegende Holzschuh (flying clog)).
