Hi, Does anybody know if there were Hs129 pilots with air to air victories (Romanian or German)? Thanks.

Hi! In 8th Assault Group(rom): -8 September 1943 Adj.Marinescu Dumitru 1 Su-2 omologated -14 October 1943 Adj.Georgescu Constantin 1 Iak nonomologated. -25 October 1943 Adj. Zabava Teodor 1 Iak,and Adj.Dumbrava Victor 1 Iak. On ground: -11 September 2 russian recce planes destryed Tciaplinka. -27 September 1 russian bomber destroyed near Kirilovka.

Adj. sef av. Stefan Pucas also had 1 Il-2 credited to him on 12 May 1944.

Thanks, guys. Do you know how many romanian Hs-129 were lost to fighters? It will be very nice if somebody has this numbers splited for losses to soviet and axis fighters.

For Adj. sef av. Stefan Pucas I have an unspecified 'kill' at unspecified date in 1944, confirmed by Order of Day No. 96/3 July 1944. Does anyone know the date, location and type of enemy airplane claimed? Is this the same 'kill', mentioned by Victor?

On the so-called 'Western Front', however, situation had changed significantly, more Hs 129s being shot down by Luftwaffe fighters, particularly in Sept. 1944.

The source is a fragment from a manuscript of Pucas himself, published in Aviatia de asalt-G8 of Valeriu Avram. Pucas mentions the fact that this kill was confirmed, unlike others, and that his champagne was given by gen. Emanoil Ionescu to the soldiers at the airfield, because he was upset with him because he went with Dumbrava at the his relatives near Iasi, without permission.

In Operational Diary for Gr.8 Asalt: -3 May 1944-no dog fights with russian fighters. -12 May 1944-no missions. For the bomber destroyed on ground,maybe it was fot the whole formation.

I was very surprised when i read Your messages about the air kills of Hs 129. Untill now I was thinking that the victories claimed by Hs 129 pilots were ground-kills. I learnt somethink today, thanks to You. Have a nice day! BM

I learnt somethink today, thanks to You.   For my part, I posted this thread thinking about a similar list of air to air kills made by soviet pilots flying Il-2. You can see such a list here, they even had aces flying Il-2 (though they also had many more Il-2s flying, 40 times more than Hs-129): http://aces.boom.ru/all7/all7.htm Still I'm very much interested in Romanian Hs-129 losses to Soviet fighters. If Denes will be so nice to post at least an aproximative value, like 10, 20, 50 Hs-129 lost, I'll be very happy

However, there are several instances, when the Hs 129 went missing to unknown cause. Some of those might have been due to VVS fighters. I would assume that no more than 5 ARR Hs 129s were actually shot down by Soviet fighters. As written above, the main cause of enemy inflicted losses to Grupul 8 asalt was the flak and ground fire.
