I have a difficult question, does anyone know how the bombs were stored in this bomber? Were they horizontal or vertical, like in the He 111? Also does anyone know what combination of bombs were held? Like 10 x 250kg? Or 4 x 500kg?

Thanks

Some time ago I had one schematic of Los, with all combinations of bomb loads. I only remember that there were also possible bombs mounted under wings. If only you had asked this question earlier. sad.gif

All bombs were carried horizontally, both in fuselage and wing root compartments.

2 x 300 kg + 18 x 100 kg = 2.400 kg
20 x 100 kg = 2.000 kg
20 x 50 kg = 1.000 kg
4800 x 0.22 kg = 1.056 kg

From what I understood of the original Polish text 8) those were 1/2 lbs. incendiary bomblets.

What was the origin of the bombs used in this plane? Could they have been Czech made?

Regards,
Vince

Could they have been Czech made?

- ex-German PuW 300 kg
- ex-German PuW 100 kg or Polish-made Ż-31
- Polish-made T-32 or wz. 29 or ex-German PuW 50 kg
- light "mouse-bomb" Polish-made T-34.
There were not Czech made bombs in use.

All bombs were hung in a series of double tiers across the wing centre-section and fuselage stretching from one engine nacelle to the other. The standard combinations were (as above): 20 x 50 kg; 20 x 110 kg*; or a combination of 18 110 kg* and 2 x 300 kg bombs. The maximum bomb load to be carried internally was 2,580 kg; but, in the overload condition, four extra 110 kg* bombs could be hung up increasing the maximum load to 3,020 kg. Electrical and hand-held bomb releases were installed, permitting the discharge of bombs singly or in salvoes at intervals of 0.1 to 2 seconds, or the whole load simultaneously. Four flares were carried, two in each engine nacelle. Additional tanks with capacity of 900 litres could be carried in place of two 300 kg bombs.

* NB. The Ż-31 actual weight is 110.86 kg but is sometimes classified as 100 Kg
