I have the Squadron/Signal Publications book "Rumanian Air Force: The Prime Decade, 1938-147", had a couple of questions... On 22 January 1943, He 111 of Mihai Oncioiu (Commander) and Ion Petcu (Pilot) was shot down during Stalingrad Campaign. Crew escaped. What was aircraft number? Also, what He 111 aircraft number (s) for Ion Profir? Am a model builder and would like to build and detail a couple of He 111 models per the aircraft mentioned. Many thanks, markr |

It was He 111H-3, No. 19.
I will have to check his memoirs. I have no accident with Cpt. Profir being involved in.
Good luck and keep us posted. Gen. Dénes |

I quickly checked his memoirs. In mid-January 1943, he flew No. 18 in a bombing mission, which was also a He 111H-3. I hope this helps. Gen. Dénes |

The camouflage colours are actually RLM 61/62/63. There is a colour photo on the back cover of my book on ARR, published by Squadron/Signal, mentioned by Mark. Gen. Dénes |

Yes you are right. RLM 63 seems to be light green grey (close with RLM 02.) |

Yes, RLM 63 is Light Grey. On the mentioned photo you can see the rear part of the He 111's fuselage being painted in this colour. Gen. Dénes |

While we are on the subject of Romanian He 111's... What about the aircraft of Virgil Stanculescu, of the 78th Bomber Squadron, when he bombed a German convoy on the Danube River, August 30th, 1944? Thanks again! |

I only have detailed information on those ARR aircraft, which were either damaged or lost in combat or accident. Gen. Dénes |
