Hi to every one , this is my first post and i will introduce my self in the same time with the thread . My name is Cristian , i am from Bucharest Romania , former cruise ships crew member , i become a member of woldwar2.ro forum as pasionated of Romanian Military ships in WW2 and romanian military history . My grand father died on the russian front in WW2. Regarding the topic "My dog tag machine from WW2" i brought a military dog tag machine on ebay for only 108$ , exactly a Adressograph Multigraph 6341 , the machine had same parts broken but i repair it . Was full of rust , took me one week to fix it . Anyway the best part is that i find out on the forum of this type of machines at www.graphotype.net that the machine was made in 1939 !!!! so is a WW2 machine . I brought the machine from a private person in Florida witch brought the machine from company that sells military surplus of a military base of U.S.Marines . Included with the machine was a box with U.S.military dog tags and chains but from modern era , box was posted in 1984 to the seller , the tags are impecable no rust at all . I also have a second machine a Graphotype 6340 from 1963 , at this time i work on fixing it , i brought it from a old guy in Illinois witch buy the machine from a military base as military surplus at the end of the Vietnam War . Both machines are mechanic and have a 110V motor , later on if any one intresteed i will post in my web site couple pictures and a video file for those intrested. I have a question to the forum users: is any one know any owner of similar machines in Romania ?? The machine in the picture is not the machine i have , is exactly the same. |

I have never seen a Dog tag machine with a motor! All of the models which I come across here in the u.s. at the military flea markets are later model which are hand operated and are a olive drab color. I have also seen blank ww2 dog tags and chains for sale at these flea markets,bu t can not recall the cost of these items. A few years ago I had a chance too buy a army ww2 dated sewing machine but waited too long and you know what happened some one bought it and for $3.00 i t was a steal. |
