Our military history club participated between in 28th of July 2012 at the reconstruction of the battle on the Hron in early 1945. We participated at the event with 13 reenactors (10 combatants and 3 sanitary in romanian ww2 uniforms). The reeacting was held at Stary Tekov, Slovakia, participating aprox 250 reenactors (german, russian and romanian army), with some pieces of artillery, 1 Hetzer, 1 SU, 4 T34, various half-tracks, and spectacular pirotehnic effects. 20.000 spectators saw the reenactment.
Here is the "artillery pounding german positions" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4nFeP-VCSQ and I can tell it was the biggest display of pirotehnic effects I saw in almost 5 years I make reenactment. We had to endure a similar "artillery hammer" when germans counteratacked us, even if at no such big density and lenght, but it was a unique experience.
