WorldWar2.ro Forum > WW2 in General > Paratroopers in the French army, previous to 1940

Were there any? Does someone have any info about their organization, OBB, equipment? How were they trained, to what kind of missions/combat were they destined? Any available electronic or hard-cover resources about that?

Thank you.

According to this site http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/paratroopers_and_world_war_two.htm, “as the war approached neither Britain nor America had paratrooper regiments. Both countries put their faith in the movement of complete military units by air – men, supplies, artillery pieces etc. This was known as air-landing. The French had created a battalion of paratroopers in 1939, but it soon disbanded.”
