Hi Iamandi,

If I remember rightly, the designer, Iribitis, resettled in Canada, where he privately published a book on his career and aircraft in the 1970s or 1980s.

Cheers,

Sid.

Hi Iamandi,

A look in the on-line catalogue of the Canadian National Library gives five technical publications by Karlis Irbitis, indicating that he was still working in the aircraft industry in Canada in the 1950s.

In the Library of Congress on-line catalogue there is a book in Latvian by Karlis Irbitis on Latvian aircraft published in 1997. (This may be the Latvian version of the book he privately published in Canada a decade or two earlier).

Cheers,

Sid.

There is, indeed, little info about this plane. Did you see this page? http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pettypi/elevon/gustin_military/db/oth/I16IRBIT.html
And a wartime photo, from the captured planes gallery at luftarchiv.de
