Hi everyone!
My name is Matthew Siemens, I'm a Canadian and I'm trying to find out some information about my Transylvanian Saxon ancestors. My Grandfather never talked about his involvement in WW2, but recently I found a photo of him wearing what appears to be a Waffen-SS uniform. Now I know very little about the Waffen-SS or they're involvement in Romania. So I'm hoping that some of you might be able to help me find out a few things about him, such as what unit he might have been in, where he fought, etc, etc, etc.
What I know is that his name was Friedrich Schell, he was born in Waldhutten Transylvania, modern day Valchid. He was injured twice during the war, one time he was shot through the wrist. The picture actually shows him at a hospital I believe. If any more info would help, please let me know! I just don't know where I should be looking, or where I can find information about this!
