Thanks David. I've seen you spent 4 days (from 30 april to 4 may) to look at the pages. That means this thread it's still interesting for many of you. Dan. |

Thanks J, We are glad that you are realistic TW historian who help us with Tidal Wave reserch. The american POW (Red Cross card) should be from summer '44 and not from '43. Dan. This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on May 12, 2005 02:14 pm |

You may be right. Constantin Balta was in that time stationed at Ghimbav. |

Below part from a list with the place of death and burrial of indentified US airmen over Romania in '43-'44. Police and military records were used to compil the list by it's authors Eugen Stanescu and Gavriil Preda, from Ploesti museum. On the list we can see that Joe E. Boswell was found death in Plopu village and was burried in local cemetery in "groapa comuna" ( common grave) on 1 august '43. This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on May 18, 2005 12:48 pm |

Pictures of the Teleajan creek/river on the NE of Ploesti.
From Hill's "Black Sunday" Quote: "AS BOOMERANG flew out of the city limits, the pilots spotted a creek bed and cranked the Liberator down lower. Flying with the belly in the creek bed and the wings at ground level, the flak guns couldn't get a clear shot at BOOMERANG." Picture courtesy Dan Melinte. |

Using the 3D programme ( NASA WORLD WIND) i made the map with the locations of the two plane crashed after the RED TARGET ( Campina ). Horton's plane ( Sandwitch) at the confluence of Prahova river with Doftana river (500m west from the old bridge) and Hughes plane on Prahova creek river bed ( Bobolia hamlet). Courtesy Dan Melinte.
