My mother ( who was a Kid in WWII) born in "Baragan" area north of Slobozia city said to me that the people in the romanian villages when a plane crashed (WWII) they compose said songs ( Ballads) with lyrics describing the tragedy. ( she told me one with a Ju 52 with wounded soldiers crashed next to them) So probably for this B-24 the romanian "Folclor" made a song too. Attached Image |

From the map crash locations drawn by the German flack man in 1944 to his commander as a piece of rememberance, and comparing it to the track of the aircarft in relation to the refineries ...it looks thats the EUROCYLDON !

Probably the one whit some smoke in the distance is taken around Floresti, a few Km north of Ploiesti.
Is remeber a photo of the liberators crossing above a colon of trees. The trees are [brazi] planted along a road. And i remeber seeing these colon of trees at north of Ploesti, exactly like in the potos, i took pictures but i don\t have the picturs whit me right now. In fact tail gunner Sgt. Nick Hunt had only one hand wounded by shell fragments and he said he finally shot down that Bf 109 attacking Daisy Mae from the back. |

The picture could also help to indentify the crash place. The hills in the background were never changed. So Keep eyes on it Cip for the trip. |

Hi everybody. I read a lot of the topics on this forum (old ones too) and I found out that you hope to find a wrek of any aircraft from WWII.
If it not a problem I wish I could help you with that project. As I asked Victor in another topic, do you actually meet in person? I'm staying in Bucharest and I'd be happy to meet you and get to know each other. Maybe we could plan some trips to find crash sites. I do not have yet your knoledge in AAR but I try to get better as I'm looking now for my uncle who was a pilot in WWII (please see the topic "how to find a 40's pilot", maybe you can help me). Bye, Barbosu |

Here something about the WONGO WONGO, it took off from the 376 Bmb Grp from Benghazi ...it flew on formation on mediteranian and while climbing to higher altitude the pilots who were lightly dressed due to the heat in Benghazi elected to wear the high altitude heated suits and as is presumed inadvertedly pushed the airplane on a high speed dive beyond recovery ( due to fuel and bombs wheight) and plunged into the sea. It will be excavated sometimes in 2005
