Maybe after his book was published he will convince Spielberg ( or other producers ) to be the technical adviser for the next big project for WWII artistic movie history and a sure Blockbuster most wanted "Tidal Wave" saga.

Dan I agree about Steven Spielberg , but I do see several problems in advance....Memphis Belle of Chatherine Whyler was primarily brought on the stage because it was easy to be filmmed as it was a high altitude bombing mission scenario after the original footages shot by her dad Whyler in WWII on the Memphis Belle in colour . Today throught the US , France and UK are adequate B-17's to gather them all for a motion picture .

Ploesti TW would require a lot of expensive computer effects at least 5 operational B-24's which I don't think that except one today would be available because the rest is not in airworthy condition, than you need a lot of assistance on the ground and infrastructure in Middle East and Roumania , which simply none would have the money for nowadays nor the public interest except B-24 freeks like us and others as well general public interest wouldnt generate the adequate risk sharing and finance for someone at Holywood doing all this.

I think however that we can do something less fictious and you along with your forum mates such as C-2, CIP visit the Arhivele Nationale Romane as well IAR Brasov where a lot of photos and footages taken by Jandarmeria and flight test footages may still be there.

Accordingto my uncle who was stationed near Ploesti with his AAR unit, he told me that many photos and films were taken by Jandarmeria on all the crashed Roumanian , German fighters and Bombers......in addition a team of the UFA Werke Gmbh from Berlin came to make some of the BOILER MAKER II in addition to the teams of the WOCHENSCHAU der WHERMACHT und ABWEHR (German Secret Service) who were also dispatched to the location) Fabrica de Avioane Brasov may have in their archives the refurbishment photos of the BOILER MAKER II as well test flights led by the Pilot / Engineer of IAR Dudu Frim.

Alex, you don't need to gave up. The one or two airworthy B-24 were enough and the rest could be radiocontrol or computer made. In Romania you can find cheeper infrastructure for movies ( a lot of low budgets movies were made at "Castel "company near Snagov) and romanian computer aces. And i think if producer were read a good scenery for Tidal Wave they will see a Blockbuster Hollywood movie in this issue and anyway we talking about american heroes depicted in a movie who deserve at least for the memories of those brave pilots attacking like soldiers with baionette, or like cavallery on horses (B-24 wink.gif ) and not at high alttitude like in Memphis Belle.
Dan.

Alex, as you can see, we do all our best for this purpose considering the low budget of an ordinary romanian people as we are ( most of us are not Rockefeller's) and we have families and jobs ( to pay the bills) and the life in Romania is not so easy like Switzerland.
But for us is also a hobby and we will spent ( time and money)as much as we can afford to keep alive the light of the candle for aviation history passion.

Cheers,
Dan.

Dan

I greatly appreciate your comments, efforts and enthusiasm considering the low resources and budgest available and I sincerely hope you will gather more resources for the TIDALWAVE , though your impressions that there is a good life or great wealth in Switzerland is purely deceptive, because not everything that flyies shines.

Alex
