It's funny that there wasa guy who saw that the missle's radar operated in the X band and said that it uses X rays, so this is why it is harmful. laugh.gif

What type of radiation are they talking about? Is it the radio waves of the radar? Is it X-rays or gamma radiation (wherefrom)?

Well, nothing new then. It is known for quite some time that radar personnel is exposed to irradiation risks, the most common being sterility. As for cancer, I think it requires quite a high level of irradiation to produce the molecular changes needed for that. Anyhow, given the high incidence of cancer in the normal population, I do not think that there are enough cases to have a definitive answer on this issue.

It is pretty sadistic, but the squirrels surely did not die of cancer. wink.gif

Yes ... the Squirel didn't liveed long enough to die from Cancer..
From same motifs on Mig25 it was forbiden to turn on the radar on the Ground.

Iama ... Why hawk? Why not? smile.gif The version that we bought is last version of HAWK PIP3. First missiles reached the units in 1990. Israel goth its HAWK PIP 3 in 1998. Turkey still waitong for them.

HAWK is quite a good missile. Compare it with SA-2 we have now. True we have some SA6 also . Those are also older version and are not modernised.

And we don't have money for Patriots wink.gif

And why Romania cannot have a mix of stuff??? (Don't tell me "because we are in the kiss-ass tribe" laugh.gif ).

Or, why we not make a deal with France or Italy?

QUOTE
The last active Army Hawk unit was deactivated in 1994, and the last Army National Guard units disposed of the Hawk system in the 1996/97 time frame. The Hawk has been replaced in U.S. Army service by the MIM-104 Patriot and FIM-92 Stinger (and Stinger-based systems like Avenger) missiles for medium- and short-range air-defense, respectively.

The MIM-23K missile and AN/TPS-59(V)3 radar was operational with USMC units from 1995 onwards. Beginning in 1998/99 the USMC started to phase out the Hawk to replace it with the FIM-92 Stinger (leaving some gap in the medium-range air-defense capabilities of the USMC). There are conflicting reports as to whether the phaseout is complete at the time of this writing (late 2002).
