In 1916 there were two bicyclists companies in the Romanian army. They belonged to the 2nd and 8th Rifles (“vanatori”) regiments. On campaign they were distributed among the two cavalry (“Rosiori”) divisions.
These units fought in several battles in 1916, but were disbanded in 1917. The cyclist companies wore Rifles (infantry) uniforms, with leggings instead of puttees. The bicycles were not special models (some foreign armies used folding bikes) but were bought from the market. It seems that they were too heavy and unsuitable for the field service.
