Battle of Balta, doing research---need help please

Soldat Group: Members Posts: 4 Member No.: 1439 Joined: May 29, 2007	I am trying to find more info on the battle of Balta in Aug of 41, which involved elements of the Romanian 6th inf division. does anyone know a good website? thanks shadow

Soldat Group: Members Posts: 4 Member No.: 1439 Joined: May 29, 2007	I really dont have a lot of information on the battle,it involved the german 239th Infantry division atticking to the west of town, the Romanian 6th Infantry division attacking to the east of town and the German 744th engineer regt was ordered to capture the town in order to build a bridge across the Kodyma river just south of town. The Russians consisted of the town garrison which was about a Battalion of Infantry and 6 or so T-26tanks. Not a whole lot of info to work with, sorry. shadow

On 2 August 21941, the 6th Infantry Division replaced the German 239th Division in the sector between Zhelenovka and teh forest 3km South of Korytna. It had to take the plateau South of Balta in cooperation with the German 198th Division. On 4 August, at noon, the 27th Dorobanti Regiment began the attack. isumalan, Balta is in the Ukraine, while Balti is in Bessarabia. Do not confuse them.
