Hi everybody,

This is my first post on this site, I’m glad to be member.
My grandfather, Lt. Nicolae Ticulescu, was fighter pilot. Since 1930 he flew in the Fighter Squadron 2, part of Pipera fighting flotilla.
In September 1936 Prince Nicolae created the assault squadron, besides the Pipera fighting flotilla. It was composed of Lt. Cdor Mihail Pantazi, Lt. Cdor. Traian Paclea, Cpt. Gheorghe (Gogu) Stefanescu, Lt. Nicolae Ticulescu and Lt. Anton Stefanescu.
On 1.11.1936 my grandfather died due to the accident suffered on 11.10.1936 at the royal manoeuvres, near Lugoj. Two planes clashed that day, Lt. Pienescu died in the same day. Few days later, on 7.11.1936. Lt. Cdor. Pantazi also died in a plane accident, in Poland.
I would like to know if you have more details, or you have met references about Lt. Ticulescu. I’m also interested by the evolution of this assault squadron, which pilots replaced Lt. Cdor Pantazi and Lt. Ticulescu etc.

Many thanks,
AC

My grandfather was awarded with Ordinul Sf. Sava cls. V (also with Virtutea Aeronautica clasa “Crucea de Aur”).
Unfortunately I couldn’t find out in which year it was given the Sf. Sava Order.
Can you help me please to find this, indicate any source?
Many thanks,
Alexandru

A photo with my grandfather at Baneasa airfield in June 1936.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2236/foto1vi.jpg

You can see the differences between the PZL 11 planes at the engine cowling: numbers 15 and 16 are PZL 11 B-k the first delivered to Romania, and number 46 is the PZL 11 B-l.

Here you can find some of the information collected about my grandfather.

The Fighter Squadron led by Cpt. Eugen Puiu Pârvulescu was the aerial acrobatics group from the Pipera Flotilla. From what I've seen this acrobatics group was a common presence at the airshows during 1935-1936.
Here is a picture from 29 sep. 1935 at the Craiova airshow. General Sichitiu presenting the pilots from Squadron Fighter 2, from left to right:
Adj. Stanescu, Adj. Giossan, Cpt. Eugen Puiu Pârvulescu, Lt. Stefan Stoian and Lt. Nicolae Ticulescu.

and the same pilots with their P.Z.L 11 B, a picture from the "Aripa Olteana" magazine
