I have a few questions about the Vânători regiments in 1916. Did they have a special recruitment? Also, did they receive any special training that would have set them apart, or perhaps make them more capable than regular infantry? Thanks, Paul |

Pablo is not referring to the mountain troops (vanatori de munte), but the initial vanatori units. The difference between the vanatori and the regular infantry consisted mainly in the better selection of the recruits and more rigorous training. However, in 1916, the vanatori regiments were in fact the prewar vanatori battalions that had been pumped up to create a two battalions regiment. The quality of the "fillings" was obviously not at the same level as that of the initial battalion.
