I would be interested in details concerning the fights of the 9th cavalry division in Budapest in January 1945, especially the attack against the race course (large hippodrom, not to be confused with the small hippodrom located further west) and the counter-attack launched by German/Hungarian units (incl. counterstrike of 4 January reported in daily combat report).
Has the type of the armoured vehicles engaged in this counterstrike been identified? Where was the border with the left wing (297th soviet rifle division) between 3 and 12 January 1945? Does any monography exist on the history of these units (9th cav. div.; 297th rifle div.) ? Many thanks in advance! This post has been edited by paul panzer on April 22, 2009 05:09 pm |
