Hallo Gentlemen, biggrin.gif

thanks for your replies, would the round device on the shoulder boards indicate Engineer or Mechanic?? It might be representation of a cog-wheel, as found in engine gears.

It looks like you made the photo after a marble cross from a tombstone.
Can you try another photo with higher resolution?
Even though, if I am right about the marble cross, a higher resolution will not help, anyway.

Kevin,

I am not an expert, but I think the gentleman was an engineer. It seems somebody else stated here the same before.

Even though I am not an expert, I remember from times long lost the insignia of the motorized units and of the armor (tanks) units, and they were different.
The insignia of the branch were I had served (radiolocation) is completely different, too.

Could be from "Securitate"? Are those blue collar tabs?
He's a lower rank.

The guy on the second photo might be corporal, beacuse he have 2 bars (i presume yellow), but i wonder why he have bars only in one shoulder...

As for the previous pic, i never saw this kind of shoulder insignia, which is a combination between artilery and infantry grenade.
