I've noticed that Amodel is selling 2 different 1/72 scale IAR80 and 2 IAR81 kits here in the states.
72166 is an IAR80 kit of Ion Milu's #42 72167 is an IAR80A kit of Constantin Pomut's #109 72169 is an IAR81 BoPi #91 72170 is an IAR81c kit of Bacin Dumistru's #343 The kits have decals and painting instructions for the named pilots and their photos on the box. All of these kits are appearing here on eBay under Amodel if you want to see the box art. I have not actually seen any of them personally to give an opinion on the quality. I notice they also make an Me109E3 kit 72116 with markings for 4 different Romanian aircraft. |

The kits are OK, relatively accurate (with some irritating niggles that could have been avoided) and they need a bit of work, but generally they are the best IAR80 in 1/72.
The A-Model decals are shockingly bad. I mean really really bad. A much better decal sheet comes with the Parc Models version of the kit. http://www.parcmodels.ro/ HTH Radu |
