Reenacting a World War II battle in Ukraine, November 4, 1943. PHOTOS...

On November 4, military history enthusiasts reenacted the liberation of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, from the Nazis in late 1943.

The reenactment involved members of military clubs from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia and Germany. The participants wore WWII uniforms and were equipped with real weapons from the era.

I see on one of the photos, showing the 'headquarters' of the Wehrmacht, that an authentic W. W. 2 German battle flag - complete with Swastika - is fluttering. Is the public display of the Swastika (and the Sickle & Hammer) allowed in the Ukraine?

What was the point to reenact the liberation of Kiev in early November 1943?
Without searching books, I remember that a strong German counterattack recuperated the city around November 20, exactly in the days of the Allied conference held in Tehran. After that, the Germans held the city for a half of a year.
They eventually lost Kiev in May 1944.

Actually the front was near Iasi in May 1944, pretty far away from Kiev.

I think he is thinking of Kharkov maybe? No that wouldn't make since either.

No, I was not thinking about Kharkov. I was wrong by quoting a wrong source. I started that post with the words "....Without searching books, I remember ..." Actually I remember well, but now I realize that article had wrong information.
Actually I remember an additonal source of information (unreliable ) containing the same mistake.

Whenever you say Kiev was liberated, so it be.
