Soldat Group: Members Posts: 9 Member No.: 94 Joined: August 30, 2003	Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the training of the Romanian Air Force by the Luftwaffe before the invasion of Russia. I understand that there was a mission sent from Germany in October 1940 at the request of the Romamian Government for assistance in the build-up of their air force. Does anyone have any information regading the type of training/assistance provided? Any details regarding these activities will be highly welcomed. Does anyone know of a good book on the subject? regards, Darren

General Medic Group: Hosts Posts: 2453 Member No.: 19 Joined: June 23, 2003	Try Bernard Denes books about the ARR.I didn't read them since they are not sold in Rom ,but I heard they are among the best. You can get also info from our site www.arr.go.ro In a few words great pilots from the luftwaffe like Von Boremsky,Wilke,Handrik,Lipfert and others trained ARR pilots in Romania and also in Tiraspol and Tuzov. You can read also from Veterans about their German instructors on the Interv.page of the site. Cheers !

I hope will put on the site the interv.with Gen Dicezere ,that I started nore than a year ago and haven't finish yet.There he talkes a lot about the training with Jg 3 Udet at Tuzov,and with German instructors on the He 112 and 109 in Romania.If I remember correct one of the instructors was the son in law of Ribbentrop Harnig (I'm sure I did't spell it right..). Admin Group: Admin Posts: 4350 Member No.: 3 Joined: February 11, 2003	Just an additional note. The Luftwaffe Military Mission, which arrived in Romania in October-November 1940, was made up of 189 officers (of which 4 were generals) and 4,680 NCOs and soldiers. They also employed 64 fighters.

Fruntas Group: Members Posts: 69 Member No.: 102 Joined: September 09, 2003	Darren, Try to find La Chasse de Jour Allemande en Roumanie - Modelism, 1996. Jean Louis Roba and Erick Mombeek found all the documents you need in the Goblenz Archieves and reproduce a lot of documents there.
