Bought a photo a couple of monthts ago which depicted Romanian soldiers, but is it an original one?

Here is a marking visable in the lower right corner;

Yes, is it is an original one, Thomas! I also have a lot of propaganda press photos with the mark "PP"...

Best regards,

Getu'

P.S.: Could you show us the entire photo?

Hallo Getu!

Here is a small, medium resolution scan of the entire photo;

Noteworthy here is that troops are visible with both French and Dutch helmets. The MG-soldier in the front is very impressive too.

So this photo is genuine and comes forth from official Romania propaganda-archives? Hmm. And to think the seller thought they were "Eastern bloc" troops in the fifties laugh.gif Knew it were Romanians, just wasn't sure if it was an original or not.

I wonder the same … Managed to acquire this photo through ebay, the seller was axo-anvio and he was selling dozens of Romanian/Hungarian aviation pictures around that time too. One explanation might be that after the war the photos went to the Reuters-archive and that this person somehow managed to acquire a part of a ‘dumped’ archive. Just checked the seller’s list and it seems now he’s selling some Italian aviation pictures. Might be worth keeping one’s eye on that list.

This older thread seemed most appropriate for the subject. I was checking out an ebay store in my general area and saw 10 expensive Romanian army photos listed, most with the red Marcele Stat Major Sectia Propaganda stamp on the back and the SMP logo on the front. They date to late 1942 and the German descriptions on the backs give Russia as their locations. Since I'm not sure how common these pictures are, I thought someone might want to check them out. The scans are fairly large and there are no marks through the pictures.
