C-2,Denes,Cantacuzino,Victor ,Hi,
I'm posting this topic on behalf of Roxana Ianculescu, one of the daughters of late Lt.av.Eugen Ianculescu, which is interested in her fathers war biografy. From Denes' books and "IAR 80",I managed to find for her ,that in the summer of 44 he was a member of 59 squadron,6 Fighter Group. He is credited with 4 victories ( 2 P 38 ?) and he took part in the faimous 10 june air battle. Where he served before (she remembers him recounting about Easter front ),did he take part in Western offensives ? We know he was an IAR pilot, did he made transition to Me 109 ? Any detail can help her. She has some uniforms, flying gear, insignia, photographs, documents but all this stuff is stored in the country and it will be some time I'll have acces to it. i hope you can help her, Thanks Dan |

What is "ABC Arhive"?
The initials of three well known persons interested in the history of Rumanian aviation? Gen. Dénes |

I found the following relevant info in my accidents database:
04-aug-44 Bf 109G-2+ Gr. 6 van. slt. Eugen Ianculescu acc. La decolare s-a angajat la dreapta, av. distrus, in spital pina 20 Febr. 1945. He obtained his wings (brevetat) in 1943. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on February 18, 2009 07:36 pm |

Thank you Cantacuzino & Denes.I'll ask Roxana if she saw this two pictures, the ones in " Romanian aces...." she has.I'm talking of the picture of him with a fellow pilot and a group of pilots from 59 squadron.
The precious information given by General ,more or less solves the question of his participation on western front. But what about the eastern one ? |

On second reading of General's posting it seems that he did make transition to Me 109 G,or at least tried.
In early 90 ties he (Ianculescu ). gave an intrvew to a romanian writer,it seems Grigorescu, about Tidal Wave, but she has no copy of it and I'm not sure of his name.I have an a book by an american pilot about Tidal Wave in which the romanian chap is mentioned and even photographed but i cant find it right now. No,its not "Ploesti" |

Did she remember if this interview was audio or video taped by this romanian writer. Any memories left about 10 june fight (mayby in this interview ?) If it is Grigorescu the writer, we can try to reach him to ask about this interview.
I have more pictures with Ianculescu and fellow 59 Sq collegues (mostly with Lt.Baciu) in the winter , january 44.
Yes. The initials of Antoniu, Bujor and Cicos. |

Thanks gays
Folowing her reply: Multumesc. Aceste poze le am si eu.Tata s-a accidentat de mai multe ori dar ultima data a fost pe 4 aug. '44 cand era sa-i fie fatal. Roxana Is Grigorescu still living ? I'll pass on your replies. |

He was right. Baciu was indeed shot dead, sometimes post war, but AFAIK the infractors wanted to grab the money bag after Baciu landed with his Po-2.
Please, Dan, watch your spelling... Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on February 19, 2009 12:06 pm |

and
trecut atat de mult timp si nu mai stiu mare lucru. Ma voi uita in pozele tatalui meu si poate gasesc si note. Tata s-a prapadit in ian. Mersi Dane. Pastram legatura.Ma voi uita in ceea ce mi-a ramas de la tata dar e tare greu. Va pupam, Roxana si Misu |
