My father was in the army during the late 60's and remembers being issued a Walther PP type pistol. Does anyone know the model it was likely to be? Are the M74 and M95 pistols imported into the US basically the same thing? Thanks

Hello gto364cid,
I don't want to say something stupid since I am not sure that the romanian army had before the romanian-produced "Carpati", pistols or other chinese made weapons, but I am sure that in communist China a decent copy of the Walther PPK called model 356 were in production in 1952. The origin of the chinese produced Walther PPK is probably USSR who transferred the machines and equipment from the Walther factory captured 1945 to the Chinese communists.

Was Romania using a locally produced pistol at that time or foreign made?
