Buna ziua,
In lista pilotilor de pe site am regasit si numele bunicului meu, lt. av. Dobrescu Gheorghe. Din pacate, a murit cand eram f mica si sunt putine amintiri ramase in urma. As vrea sa stiu daca acest pilot este bunicul meu. Insa, informatiile afisate la pilotul Dobrescu de pe site, nu corespund datelor pe care le stiu eu. data nasterii si decesului. bunicul meu s-a nascut in 1907 si a murit in 1988. Ma poate ajuta cineva? cum as putea gasi o arhiva? detin canetul lui de pilot, poze si alte hartii. as dori sa aflu cat mai multe si sa reusesc sa il trec apoi si pe el in lista pilotilor. a luptat mult, in special la cotul donului si merita sa apara printre toti ceilalti pilot. multumesc http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/7942/scan0022c.jpg al 5-lea de la stanga la dreapta primul din stanga, in picioare This post has been edited by natasa on January 19, 2011 11:15 am |

Yeah, good luck! But if you have his pilot "book", there must be some additional details.
Ro: mult noroc! -------------------- M

I met former Sublocotenent aviator Gheorghe Dobrescu in Bucharest, about ten years ago. He was a pilot in a long-range reconnaissance squadron active in the USSR, equipped with Junkers Ju 88Ds. He was an outstanding gentleman, having been decorated with many awards during the war. Was he your grandfather? Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on January 19, 2011 07:31 pm |

There are two men in my lists:
- Dobrescu D. Gheorghe - Dobrescu I. Gheorghe Perhaps denes met the other Dobrescu, since he met the man in 2000, and your grandpa was dead since 1988. Al |

It is a different Gheorghe Dobrescu the one natasa is referring to: Gheorghe D. Dobrescu. Notice the inter-war uniforms in the second photo, plus the fact that he has the rank of captain in the WW2 era photo. You are talking about Gheorghe I. Dobrescu. This Gh. Dobrescu was born on 23 August 1907. He graduated with the rank of sublocotenent on 1 July 1930 An was promoted on 10 May 1934 and then on 8 November 1938. In 1939 he was with the 3rd Aviation Flotilla. He has light colored patches, which leads to believe they were light blue -> reconnaissance. natasa, with the help of his flight book and of the other papers I will probably be able to compile a profile for the site. I will send you my email address via PM. Also, please use English on the forum, as required by the forum rules. |

I found an info on Lt. C-dor av. Gh. Dobrescu of Flot. 3 bomb., who crashed his S.E.T. 7K liaison biplane on Pipera airfield, on 44. Jul. 26.
If he wore a Captain's ranks on one of your photos, then this incident might refer to your grandfather. You can cross check your Grandfather's Carnet de Sbor to see if this incident is mentioned in it. Gen. Dénes P.S. To the expert in ARR uniforms, how can you explain that the Sublocotenent leaning on the grass, seen on the left on the bottom photo, wears two-stripe pants, which I thought was reserved for Generals? Or, the stripe colour is not red? This post has been edited by Dénes on January 20, 2011 06:10 am |
