Hi all, the intent of this thread is to make a collective index of databases/sites that contain images related to Romania during WW2 ( Aviation/Army/Civil ) i will share those that i visit from time to time, most of them are very known, you are most welcomed to add others !
WW2 in Color http://www.ww2incolor.com/Romanian+Forces/ Aviatori http://www.aviatori.ro/galerie.php Muz. de Fotografie http://www.muzeuldefotografie.ro/tag/ww2/ CriticalPast - i will post 2 generic searches which will yeld some results, you will have to search by yourself for extra stuff : http://www.criticalpast.com/products/searc...ion=&length=any http://www.criticalpast.com/products/searc...ania&length=any Footnote http://www.footnote.com/image/#47654545 Once the page loads select Open Filmstrip from below and you will be able to browse through quite a few USAF over Romania photos and others, very good quality ! Pallas This one is very difficult to navigate, for you searches you will have to use english/dutch/french to find, try keywords like : roemenie, roemeense, sample link : http://pallas.cegesoma.be/pls/opac/opac.se...3&rqdb=1&dbnu=1 In order to search further click the blue arrow on top LIFE http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&sour...f&aqi=&aql=&oq= |

http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...%3Disch:10,1874 http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...%26tbs%3Disch:1 According to the original article from Life Magazine, it is a (unspecified) French rifle. Sorry for being off-topic. |

Thank you, Dragos! Were those still in use by 1939/1940? |

Yes, it was used by auxiliary troops under the designation 8mm Lebel Model 1917 rifle, along with other older models such as:
6.5mm Mannlicher Model 1893 7.92mm Mouscheton Model 1890 7.62mm Mosin Nagant Model 1891 8mm Mannlicher Model 1895 All armies made use of any equipment available for auxiliary and rear troops since the first rate equipment was not always in sufficient quantity to supply all the troops. |

Many of these photos are well known. Some of them are copied from publications.
And it's mentioned: "Agentia SOIM PRESS Copyright MMX SOIM". Copyright on which ground? Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on March 23, 2011 07:45 pm |

A lot were taken from this site and forum. It looks like the author grabbed everything he could find on the Internet.
The problem is that a lot of people in Romania don't fully understand yet the meaning of copyright or author rights. During communism this term had no meaning, so probably it would take a while for this thing to be treated serious. At least if the source was mentioned ... |

Maybe he must change the name in " Agentia Soim copy paste ". I also found many pictures posted by me on this forum long time ago. |
