Are there any historical data/studies (late 19th, early 20th century) on people's height in Romania?

I saw an old/decrepit looking rural-style house in Bucharest and it was remarcably small in height. Just at a glance, I'd say if I were to enter the courtyard and stand near the house it would be somewhere at 1.5 meters high. I hope to post a picture soon.

It is true that the average height of people has fluctuated thoughout the ages, and that during certain historical periods it was much lower. However, when looking at rural houses you must remember that traditionally, "bordei" type dwellings were partially buried in the earth, resulting in a very low apparent height.

Aparently it's about the quantity of meat that we eat during the growing period.

A friend of mine was in S Korea and said that the new generation are about 180cm hight.
Old folks are much smaller.

For what it is worth - the Japanese copy of the M48 Patton was scaled down to fit the smaller Japanese stature. The latest tanks in Japan are "full size". They blame it on McDonalds huh.gif
