Lahit guns

Hi to all ,

does anyone know something more about 24 guns which Romania bought from Serbia in spring 1863? Does it belonged to Lahit guns (french construction from the mid of XIX century)?

Those were, if I remember correctly, Belgian (not Serbian) Thiemras guns (I'm not sure about the spelling). Around 48 French "La Hitte(-Napoleon III)" guns and howitzers were imported in 1864 or 1865. All were muzzle-loaded, and the field guns were of 86 mm caliber (I think).

the following datas originated from the historical article "Prilozi za istoriju Vojnotehnickog zavoda u Kragujevcu" (Supplements for History of Military and Technical Arsenal in Kragujevac) written by Nebojsa Djokic and Radovan Radovanovic, published in 'Sumadijski anali 2', Kragujevac, 2005.

- in that article for the romanian bought of 24 muzzle-loaded guns from Belgium in 1863 (Veure Lachausser system) the sources is following:

- in the same historical article for the 24 muzzle-loaded guns produced under licensee in Serbia, and offered and delivered to the Romania, also in 1863 the sources is following:

- but, also in the same historical article I read that romanian major Herkt in 1862. sent to Belgium where in arms factory in Liege 14 months studied production of artillery armament. In July 1863. Herkt visited Kragujevac factory for the same purpose. Some of the ideas about organization of production of armament he also applied in romanian factory (Manufacturii de arme) built in Dealul Spiri. Sorry,

I saw lately that I ommited for P.V.N. Sturel, that his work published in 1907. Also I ommited that some ideas applied in romanian armament factory major Herkt got in Kragujevac.
