When I was passing through Faget in 1990 I found a Li2 along the street which was used as a Bar with Romanian star on the rudder/tail.
What happened to that plane, does it still exist?

Yes, it's still there and still used as a bar:

former no. 209, Romanian AF
Do you have any picture of it while still wearing the star on the tail?

Thanks Vici for linking to the other thread!

Still I am convinced it should be in the post-WW2 section.
Moreover as I spotted it then in AM livery complete with with upper fuselage, flash/cheekline, metalic underside, and faintly vizible fade away pre 1985 star on rudder/tail! Only the two words "bar avion" above the flash and its location pointed at its demilitarisation then.

I made a black and white picture of it that was published in 1990 in Scramble magazine, Amsterdam, 1990, number?
Will try to find my old negative, or a copy of the publication.

There was another Li-2 bar at Banesti, next to Aurel Vlaicu's monument, up until several years ago.

I've read on several other forums that it was an Il-18, not a Li-2.
Until and unless a picture surfaces, it would be mostly a sterile debate...

It was Tarom Il18B YR-IMC (c/n 4802) first noticed there at least in 1992, last seen there in 1999? What happened to it?

Some childrens played inside and fall from open door and were spitalized. The ( Banesti ) Mayor decided to dismantle and scrap the plane to avoid future accidents.

I don't know if many of you remembers ( a long time ago tongue.gif ) the Li-2 bar from Herastrau park. And another one in "Cotroceni palace" garden. And the one from "Politehnica".

Nice recollections!

When were the last civil and military flights of Romanian Li-2?
Any id of the Bucuresti Lisunovs known?

I remember driving (by international truck) to Romania in 1990 seeing Malev Il18V HA-MOI (cn 10002) parked near the old road near Gyor.
It has made is last flight from Budapest to Papa airbase august 29, 1989 and was towed towards it new place to act as a restaurant (according Soviet Transports book)
