German canteens are marked generally in 5 different places and when they left the factory all the markings coincided.
The markings can be found on the: - Neck of the canteen; - Top of the cork; - Canteen cup (between the handles); - Leather strap (on the inside of the strap that holds the strap); - Felt cover. Sometimes on the attachment hookon the early ones. But as the war progressed some components were not marked (especially the strap and the felt but also the cork). |

the markings - RFI 41 on the cup and body, RFI 42 on the felt and straps. -------------------- ®
