Probably used more like a walking cane then a functional mountainering axe. What is very interesting is that IT is named and I would like to find out more information about this person if anyone recognizes him. The blade is nickle plated same like a sword. It is stamped " LT. COL. N. IONESCU. CDT. DIV. 3. OB. M., BUCEA 1940."

A more adequate translation in this case for "divizion" would be "battalion".

The 3rd Mountain Howitzer Battalion was part of the 3rd Mountain Division.
