(...) All of them underline the true that the Romanian army supported the Hungarian population giving them food and clothes; the Romanian military doctors gave to ills medicines and offered the necessary treatment.

The mayor of Abony commune, in December 11, 1944, stated about the Romanian humanitarian behaviour: "the officers and the troops of Romanian Army treated the population with the greatest goodwill", and the atitude of Romanian soldiers was "in accordance with the sons of a people of culture"; "the Romanian civilized army, known by us, gain love, estime and gratitude of the Hungarian population". Similar appreciations were made by the authorities from Diosgyor, Miskolk, Vatta, Szilvasvarad, Farmas, Cegled etc. During the fighting breaks, the Romanian soldiers had found the time to support the Hungarian population for removing the war consequences, for normalizing the life and activity. An important support in this regard was done by the Romanian aviators for reopening the schools and the churches in Turkeve and that's why Szabo Margit, director of the school, expressed to Air Marshal Emanoil Ionescu "the deepest thanks".

During the few months, the Romanian fighting army passed a great part of the Hungarian territory on temporarily camps in villages or towns and the Hungarian citizens had the time to convince themselves about the Romanian Army civilized behaviour in comparisons with the hostile propaganda of the Horthyst authorities who tried to create the image of an Army governed by revenge for the athrocities made by Hungarian military and authorities in the North-Western part of Romania. The lies of these statements was revealed by the Hungarian population itself when they found out that all the affirmations of Romanian army denigrators were "not but unwillingly lies of subversive propaganda" as the Nagyaka authorities declared.

The same humanitarian behaviour characterized Romanian Army on the Czechoslovakian territory. The Romanian General Headquarters precised from the very begining to Slovaks and Czechs that "the Romanians do not come as occupants but as allies in the common fight against the Hitlerite oppression".

Till the present time into the archives there are numberless proofs of the gratefullness of citizens from Polomka, Bzenec, Zenhacovice, Turc Sv. Martin, Dobroc, Prostejov, Tisovec, Nova Bana, Brno etc. (...)

About a year ago ,I met at General's Dobran house ,the widow of the ARR pilot Ion Galea.Clara Galea (who is Hungarian) told me that one night a family friend came to their house and told her father that he should give him his two douthers in order to serv as nurses at the Romanian field hospital in Mikholz(I hope I speld corect..).Clara's father first refused,but was convinced imediatly when he was told that the Russians are taking all the local girls to their needs.
Clara and her sister worked at the field hospital taht also treated local people in need.All were well treated and the same all the Hungarians that had contacts with the Romanian army.
Also ARR pilot IOan MArinciu told me that in Hungaria and Chehoslovakia the Romanians soldiers were invited to local houses ,since if there were Romanians Russians won't come...
Marinciu said that Romanian soldiers were preferd by the Russian over the Germans and By the Hungarians and Chech over the Russians.
To me it says a lot.
