If you download the pdf version of Mushrooms Model Publication catalogue (http://www.mmpbooks.biz/mmp/pdf_cat/Stratus_Katalog.pdf) you will see at forthcoming books, "white series", the "Romanian Fighter Colours, 1941-1945" book, by Teodor Liviu Morosanu and Dan Melinte.
Well, I'm very positively surprised !!! Some more details Cantacuzino, when it will be available ?! This post has been edited by MaxFax on April 11, 2009 04:40 pm |

Just received my copy of this book. It really is exceptional. Superb colour drawings backed up with original photographs. A mine of information for the modeller and historian alike. Well done Dan and Teodor.

Today I received this book and it's a great help for me as a modeller and a very nice book to read also.
Now lets hope ther will also be one like this for bomber aircraft and militairy vehicles like tanks, trucks, halftracks etc. maybe this is something for Gen. Denes and/or Radub ... |

To be honest, I don't believe in colour artwork. I know that with this statement many modellers will get angry with me, but every artwork, by its nature, is subjective and can cause endless debates on shades of colours, proper camouflage lines, etc. All these cannot be finally settled even if we had colour photos (which we usually don't), as WW2-era colour photography was in its infancy, and the 65 years or so since the end of the war modified the prints irreversibly. That's why I, as an author, would not include any colour profiles in my books - if it were up to me. But it usually isn't, that's why you can see in the books I authored more or less accurate artwork. This having been said, I am not against such book centering on colour profiles (one day I may also author such a publication, if the Readers need it and the Publisher compels me so). One of these days, I will receive a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher, then I will write my opinion. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on November 18, 2010 11:13 am |

Dear Gen. Denes, With:
I referred to:
In my previous post... Hoping that you would write one or more books about it... I have your Osprey - Romanian Aces of WW2 and Squadron Signal - Romanian Air Force 1938-1947 books and I really like them. That's why I did my request ... |

But the book is not centered on colour profiles. The visual side of the book goes way further than that. The colour profiles are based on photos that are also included in the book. So, each colour profile can be immediately compared against the relevant photo(s), and then it all becomes clear. In actual fact, there are more photos in the book than colour artwork. There is also quite a lot of historical data. I agree, there are endless debates about camouflage colours and interpretation of photos, but armed with knowledge it is possible to reach quite safe/accurate conclusions. A quick glance at such "rows" shows that they are started by people who lack that aforementioned "knowledge" and refute/refuse explanations. Even worse, on another forum there was a poster who actually rubbished the book without actually seeing it. Trust me, we went through many hours of colour analysis (and many rows) until we put anything on paper. Radu |
