My opinion is as follows, however I stand open to correction:-
The sword is very similar to that found on Italian Royal and Fascist Medals. The one shown here is from the Campaign in Ethiopia pre-WW2 period. ![]() ![]() Fascist style swords as pins / insignia can be found with no laurel leaves entwined. I surmise the sword is an add on, as it makes no sense seeing the cross is for a peacetime award. Kevin in Deva ![]() |
