IAR 88, Ideas

well I found some interesting drawing of an 3d art fan from romania. This is how he think`s that next fighter of I.A.R would look like.
I`d like to see ypur oppinion.

The in-line engine version of IAR80?

It is a really bizarre creation - it has features from Russian, German and possibly British aircraft (although none are correct) but not a single IAR feature...
The markings are strange too - crosses combined with white theatre markings.
It is a naive drawing, something that a Sapanta "artist" would draw.

no new replyes? Is it that boring? I mean it`s someones ideea and so it should be considered . It`s a mix of everytthig. I`m interested of your ideeas, and how do you think the next IAR would looked like. And I`m curious why romanian designers have stopped after finishing IAR 80. Why not tryed an new design or maybe an romanian inline engine?

There were two attempts to equip the IAR080 with an inline engine, but they stopped after the prototype phase: one because the concept was not viable, the other because the license for the engine could not be obtained from Germany. Search the forum and site for more info regarding the subject. It was discussed before.

To paraphrase you, the reason why there are no replies is that it is boring. I mean it`s someones ideea and so it should only be considered as such. It`s a is mix of everything and representation of nothing.

IAR did not stop production after IAR80. I recommend that you buy "Romanian Aeronautical Constructions" by Dan Antoniu and George Cicos to see what else IAR designed and produyced after the IAR80. The list is to long!

By the way, after IAR81 (which was the last of the IAR80 series), the next in line was IAR811 and so on. IAR88 sounds simply too implausible to those who really know the IAR.

Hahahah! Dan Ene is the author, aka D13-th_Dan. This is indeed old stuff from 2003, at that time Dan was still flying IL-2 simulator....

Yes I know that planes prorotypes ( not only, few entered production) were produced at IAR but that happend after the war. I was thinking more like war time period with projects for an better fighter or some assault plane. and about the inline engine I was thinking more like an romanian 100% engine. Thx all for replyes

There was no 100% Rumanian engine.
The only viable solution for Rumania was to build the performant German DB 605 in licence, which happened (albeit in limited numbers).
