I'm looking for any dates of Declarations of War by Romania or against Romania in 1941-1944 & 1944-1945.
Was there a Declaration of War between Romania & Hungary in 1944/45?? Was there a Declaration of War between Romania & Croatia in 1944/45?? MfG Michi |

From what I know Romania and Hungary were allies inside the Axis. That until 23-rd aug 1944 when Romania switched sides. After 23-rd aug I guess that when Romania declared war on Germany, or on the Axis I'm not quite sure, there was also a declaration of war to Hungary. |

Is this the official date of formal declaration of war, or the day when the first major clashes occurred along the border? So far, I knew that Rumania declared war on Hungary on August 25, together with Germany. Gen. Dénes |

Actually there were Croatians in Rumania duwing W.W. 2. Elements of the Croatian Navy and Air Force were dispatched to Rumania (the latter without airplanes, though). Klemen can add more info. Gen. Dénes |

Are you sure about that date. On 1 Sept. 1944, the Romanian minister of foreign affairs declared that the Romanian government: "considers Northern Transylvania as beeing a part of the national terittory" and that "through it's attitude, the Hungarian government showed that it means to keep the spoils obtained at Vienna, refusing thus to integrate in the community of civilized peoples... Moreover, hungarian troops, together with German troops, have attacked the forces of the Romanian army. The Romanian government sees that through this new agression, Hungary has placed itself in a state of war with Romania". [my (aproximative) translation] This seems to indicate that Romania was not officially at war with Hungary before 1 September, but that some "unofficial" armed clashes happened prior to this date. On 29 November 1941 the Government of the United Kingdom sent a note to the Romanian Government informing that unless by 5 December Romania has ceased the military activities on the territory of the USSR and effectively withdrawn from all active participation in the hostilities, war will be declared. Since the Romanian Government did not reply by midnight on 5/6 December, the UK Government informed that a state of war would exist between the two countries starting from 0.01 GMT on 7 December 1941. |

If I remember right, Romania declared war toward The United States in early 1942, and then the U.S. answered with a similar document.

No. Romania declared war in December 1941, along with the rest of the Axis. The US replied in June 1942, just prior to the first raid on Ploiesti on 12 June. |
